July Photo Challenge for Freelancers

Freelancers, this one is for you! This July, we’re presenting you a photography challenge to give your camera roll a glow-up – and your creativity a much-needed stretch. Welcome to the #FlexYourFocus Photo Challenge: 31 days, 31 prompts, and just one rule… have fun with it.

Whether you’re snapping between client calls or chasing the golden hour after logging off, this challenge is your excuse to step away from the screen and start seeing your city (or your backyard) with fresh eyes.

Why a photo challenge?

We’re all for building, designing, and creating successful solutions to productive projects, but sometimes the best ideas come when you’re not trying so hard. Sometimes, you need a break – and permission – to focus on the beauty you can already find in the world around you. The #FlexYourFocus challenge is your permission to recharge your brain, find inspiration offline, and reconnect with the joy of simply noticing things.

Need another reason? It’s just fun.

No fancy equipment. No long-distance travel required. Just your phone, your surroundings, and your individual take on each daily theme.

We’ve focused this challenge on the month of July, but if you’ve arrived late to the party, you can participate any time – for any number of days.

How to Participate

1. Follow the daily prompt. Each day in July has a unique theme – some playful, some poetic, all open to interpretation.
2. Snap a photo on your phone. Filters, edits, and creative liberties welcome. We’re not judging – we’re vibing.
3. Share your image online. Use #FlexYourFocus and each day’s individual hashtag – maybe even add a link back to this blog. Post to Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, or anywhere you share your creative life.
4. Tag a friend and challenge them to join. Because everything is better when it’s shared.

We’ve designed this list to walk the line between structure and freedom. Some days will nudge you toward light and color; others ask you to look for feeling, tension, or unexpected delight.

Each prompt is listed with a unique hashtag so your photo can be part of the community thread. Here’s the full lineup, by day, including each day’s hashtag:
